» Agra
Agra, located on the western bank of Yamuna River, is one of the most frequented cities by tourists in India. Agra was founded by Badal Shah in 1475, but it came into prominence when the Lodhis made it their capital.

Taj Mahal - The most important structure, that the Mughals built during their reign in Agra and which till date remains as beautiful as before is the ‘Taj Mahal’. Regarded as the eighth wonder of the world, the Taj Mahal stands near the banks of Yamuna River. Built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, this beautiful white marble mausoleum is an incredible beauty that draws tourists to Agra. About 20,000 labours were commissioned for 22 years (between 1631AD to 1653AD) to build this white marble beauty. This onion shaped edifice is set amidst an exquisitely manicured Persian garden, which in itself is no less than a paradise.
Agra Fort - Merely 2kms from the Taj Mahal is a massive Mughal structure - the Agra Fort. Built by the great Mughal emperors Akbar and Shah Jahan, Agra Fort is the place where Shah Jahan spent his last days after he was imprisoned by his own son Aurangzeb. Presently only part of the fort is opened for tourists as the other part is occupied by army. The Agra Fort house numerous attractions within its complex. The major highlights within the fort are - Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Nagina Masjid, Mina Masjid, Macchi Bhavan, Khas Mahal, Shish Mahal, Shah Jahani Mahal and the Zenana Mina Bazaar. From the fort one can have a magnificent view of the Taj Mahal.

Itmad-ud-Daulah's Tomb - Also very near to the Taj Mahal is the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah. This building houses the tomb Mirza Ghiyas Beg and his wife Asmat Begum. Mirza Ghiyas Beg was the Prime Minister during the reign of Mughal emperor Jahangir and was also the father of his wife queen Nur Jahan. This tomb is said to have inspired the structure of the Taj Mahal as it was built before.
Fatehpur Sikri - The city of Fatehpur Sikri is located at a distance of forty kilometers from Agra. The city was built by Akbar in respect of the famous Sheikh Salim Chisti over a period of Fifteen years. The city boasts of magnificient structures like the the Panch Mahal, the Buland Darwaza, the tomb of Salim Chisti, the Jama Masjid Mosque and the life-size chessboard. These monuments represent a beautiful blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture and must be visited by tourists coming to Agra.

Jaipur 
Founded in 1727 by the great Kachhawaha ruler Sawai Jai Singh, Jaipur is one of those cities that tourists must visit during their trip to India. Better known as the 'Pink City', Jaipur is the capital of the western state of Rajasthan, and exudes a charm like no other.

The City Palace - The major attraction for tourist coming to Jaipur is the the City Palace. Built by the founder of Jaipur, Sawai Jai Singh, the City Palace presents a remarkable amalgamation of the Mughal and Rajput architecture. The palace complex has beautiful structures inside it, including the Chandra Mahal, the Mubarak Mahal, the Diwan-e-Aam, the Diwan-e-Khas and the well known Shri Govind temple.
Hawa Mahal - The Hawa Mahal is yet another tourist attraction of Jaipur and is also called the Palace on Winds. It was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799, so that the ladies of the royal families could watch the outer world while maintaining their pride and dignity. The Hawa Mahal is a five storeyed structure built in the style of a pyramid. There are as many as 593 windows in the Mahal. Visitors can take a round inside the Mahal to see exactly where the ladies sat.
Amber Fort - Amber Fort is located in Amber which is a little distance away from Jaipur. The fort consists of other structures like the 'Diwan-e-Khas', the 'Sheesh Mahal', the 'Diwan-e-Aam', the Kali temple and the 'Jai Mandir'. Tourists must visit this fort to enjoy the beauty of its architecture.

Bikaner
Lying in the northern part of Rajasthan, Bikaner was named after its founder, Rao Bikaji. Originally a barren land, Bikaner was converted by Bikaji into a magnificient city of forts and palaces.

Junagarh Fort - This 96 metre fort built by Raja Rai Singh in 1593, is one of those forts that have never been captured. It attracts numerous visitors throughout the year because of its splendid beauty. The fort houses some of the most beautiful structures within its premises like the Anup Mahal, Ganga Niwas, Karan Mahal and the Rang Mahal. It also houses various temples and pavilions in its complex that are a marvel of the brilliant architecture.
Lalgarh Palace - The palace is a pretty recent construction as compared to the rest of the palaces in the Rajasthan. It was built in 1902 by Maharaja Ganga Singh in respect of his father Maharaja Lall Singh. The Lalgarh palace draws its name from red sandstone by which it is built. Today, a portion of this palace serves as a hotel while the rest is occupied by the royal family of Bikaner.
Camel Research Farm - Bikaner is famous for its camel rides therefore it is quite natural that a camel research farm is a major attraction in the city. Largest in Asia, this camel farm is managed by the central government and breeds about half of the camel population in India. Tourists coming to this places are delighted by the sight of baby camels and their activities.
Gajner Palace - Often been described as 'an unparalleled jewel in the Thar Desert', the Gajner Palace was a summer resort of Bikaner Maharajas. Standing on the embankment of a lake, the palace with outstanding architecture was built by Maharaja Ganga Singh Ji of Bikaner. The palace was used by Maharaja for grand shoots and royal entertainment.
Built in red sandstone with intricately carved pillars, jharokhas and screens , the craftsmanship of the palace is overwhelming. The palace is encompassed by awesome forest area, now a preserved wildlife sanctuary, providing shelter to chinkaras, blackbucks, blue bulls and flocks of imperial sand grouse. Now, a section of the palace has been converted into hotel.

Udaipur

Founded by Maharaja Udai Singh of the Sisodia dynasty in 1559, Udaipur is situated at the banks of Lake Pichola and surrounded by mountains, lakes and forests. With its lakes and mountains, it is almost like a mirage in the vast sandy desert of Rajasthan.

Sahelion Ki Bari - Sahelion Ki Bari or the garden of maidens is also very close to the City Palace and is a major tourist spot. The garden was built by Maharaja Sangram Singh, the garden is a perfect place for picnic and enjoyment. There is also a museum that displays the objects used by the people of royal household.
Fateh Sagar & Nehru Park - Overlooked by a number of hills from three sides and the Pratap Memorial on the north, this is a spectacular lake built by Maharana Fateh Singh. In between the lake is Nehru Park - a breathtaking garden island with a boat shaped cafe approachable by an enjoyable boat ride.
Jag Mandir - Standing in the middle of the Lake Pichhola is the island palace Jag Mandir, where prince Khuman Singh, (best known as emperor Shahjahan, who the built the world famous Taj Mahal), sought refuse from his father emperor Jahangir. This three story building was completed by Maharana Jagat Singh Ist in 1652 A.D.

Cochin 
Cochin, also known as Kochi is the commercial capital of south India. Located in the beautiful state of Kerala, Cochin was built by the Portuguese and is today the busiest port of the country and an important tourist destination of the state. It is spread across islands and promontories.

Bolghatty Palace - The palace is situated in the Bolghatty island and was built by the Dutch. Today, the Bolghatty Palace serves as a hotel and is a perfect place for tourists to enjoy a picnic. The palace also has a golf course which is an added attraction for the lovers of golf. Tourists visiting Kochi must visit the Bolghatty Palace to view its splendid beauty.
St. Francis Church - The Church of St. Francis is another place that tourists must visit during their trip to the beautiful city of Cochin.. This is the oldest church built by the Europeans not only in the city but in the entire India. Vasco da Gama was buried in this church after his death, however, later his remains were carried back back to his home country- Portugal. Tourist visiting the church can see the place where the great Portuguese trader was buried.
Jewish Synagogue - The Jewish Synagogue was built in 1568 and is extremely beautiful. It is exquisitely ornate by Chinese tiles and Belgian chandeliers. The floor of the synagogue has hand painted willow pattern floor tiles brought from China. Tourists can also see the Giant scrolls of the Old Testament.
Mattancherry Palace - The Mattancherry palace is also known as the Dutch palace, however, it was originally built by the Portuguese. The Dutch presented the palace to the ruler of Kerala and from then many subsequent rulers were crowned in this palace. The palace has many mural paintings that depicts events and scenes from the Hindu epics, Mahabharata and Ramayana. The palace is worth visiting once for its unique beauty.

Trivandrum 
Trivandrum, now known as Thiruvanantpuram is the capital of the southern state of India, Kerala. The city has been named after Anantha, the thousand - headed serpent on which Lord Vishnu rested.

Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Temple - This temple attracts innumerable tourists throughout the year and presents a marvellous combination of the Kerala and Dravidian architecture. One of the 108 sacred Vishnu temples in India, the temple is widely famous for its mural paintings nad stone carvings. The temple is a must visit for any tourist visiting Trivandrum.
Veli Tourist Village - Veli tourist village is located at the confluence of Veli Lake and Arabian sea. It is one of the most exciting places for tourists especially children because it offers an opportunity to explore the lagoons on a paddle boat. Napier Museum - Napier Museum was was originally established by Maharaja of Travancore in 1855. However, in 1874, a new building was built and named after the Governor of Madras presidency. The museum built in an Indo- saracenic style boasts of an incredible collection of archaeological and historic artefacts, bronze idols, ancient ornaments, a temple chariot and ivory carvings. The museum is a major attraction for tourists who love history and culture.
Ponmudi - At an elevation of 912m above sea level, Ponmudi is a pleasant resort. Just 61kms from Thiruvananthapuram, this beautifyul hill resort is well accessible from Trivandrum. There are many tree and rubber estates around the hills, which gives the place a picturesque look.
Kovalam - Kovalam is 12kms to the south of Thiruvananthapuram and is one of the finest beaches in India. It has been developed into an integrated seaside resort. The beach complex has many hotels, cottages, yoga centres etc.
Vizhinjam - About 2kms south of Kovalam, is Vizhinjam, believed to be an ancient port. The Dutch and Portugese had commercial establishments here. It is being developed as a modern fishing harbour.

Shri Kashi Vishwanath Mandir
Also known as the Golden Temple, it is dedicated to Lord shiva, the presiding deity of the city. Varanasi is Said to be the point at which the first jyotirlinga, the fiery pillar of light by which shiva manifested has supremacy over others gods, broke through the Earth’s crust and flared towards the heavens. More than the Gaths and even the Ganga, the Shivalinga installed in the temple remains the devotional focus of Varanasi.
Central Institute Of Higher Tibetan Studies
The only institute of its kind in the world, imprating education in the Tibetan language, it was Est. by the Dalai Lama in 1971. Presently located at Sarnath, the institute has a rare collection of Buddhist texts, Tibetan manuscripts and other journals.
Barat Kala Bhawan, B.H.U
Started in 1950 as a university museum, Bharat Kala Bhawan in famous for its unique collection of miniature paintings. It has a rich collection of Rajasthani paintings, Pichhawai’s, pahari painting, Nepalese & Tibetan Thankas, Company paintings as well as paintings of contemporary artists, illustrated Mrigavati, Kalpa Sutra, Chora-Panchasika, Laura-Chanda, Shah-nama and some pages of Humza-nama Are the proud possessions of this museum.
Maharaja Banaras Vidya Mandir Museum, Ramnager
Ramnager fort was originally built by Maharaja Balwant Singh (1740-70 AD.) The Banaras Vidya Mandir Museum is housed in the Ramnager fort itself. The museum collection mainly Comprises of textiles, pieces of decorative arts, arms & armours, utilitarian objects, means of transport-old bagghis, palkis & haudasivories, furniture & manuscripts.
Banaras Hindu University
The Banaras Hindu University was established in 1916 by special efforts of Nationalist Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. Today it has grown into one of the biggest universities of India.
Kashi Vidya Peeth
The Kashi Vidyapeeth was set up in 1920 by Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta to provide alternate education arrangement discarding that of the British. It soon became a centre of natoinal education with Hindi as the medium of instruction. Acharya Narendradev, Babu Sampurnanand, Babu Sriprakash & many more Luminaries of the time have been associated with this institute.

Khajuraho 
Khajuraho is situated in the sta
te of Madhya Pradesh, and is known as the 'temple town' because of its world famous temples built by the Chandela rulers. The erstwhile capital city of the Chandela rulers, Khajuraho draws its name from Khajur or the date palm trees that once surrounded this region.

Western Group of Temples - The western group of temples are the most important and largest of all the temples in Khajuraho. They are centrally located and attract tourists in large number. This group of temples include the Lakshman temple, the Varsha temple, the Kandariya Mahadeva temple and the Chitragupta temple among others. The first two temples are dedicated to Lord Vishnu while the third on is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The last temple is dedicated to the sun god. These temples are well preserved than the rest of the templese.
Eastern group of temples - The temples in this group are mainly Jain temples. Out of the the three Jain temples, The temple of Parsvanath is the largest. The other two Jain temples are the Ghantai Temple and the Adinatha Temple. There are three other temples- Brahma temple, the Vamana temple and the Javari temple. The last two temples are dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The walls of the temples depict daily activities of the people as well as erotic carvings.
Southern group of Temples - The Southern group of temples lie a few kilometers away from the village and includes only two temples- The Chaturbhuj Temple and the Duladeo Temple. The Chaturbhuja temple has a an image of Lord Vishnu while the Duladeo Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was the last temple built by the Chandela rulers. Tourists must visit these temples to appreciate their beauty.
